The proud Australian Sea Lion

Found only in Australia the Australian Sea Lion population is estimated to be 10,000 - 12,000. These sea animals are located between The Pages Islands in South Australia and Houtman Abrolhos off the Western Australian cost.

These sea lions are very social creatures and you can often find them communicating with each other. They form large colonies on land which have sub groups that are more intimate.

Under the National Parks and Wildlife Act of 1972, it is illegal to harm or kill an Australian Sea Lion. It is believed that the numbers are still dropping and it really isn’t known why.

Plenty has to be done if they are going to survive.
